Hello and welcome! A bit about me...
I was always an avid runner, cyclist, and cardio buff also using weight lifting for toning from my 20's through my 40's. I'm not quite sure what happened, but after twins and a difficult pregnancy with 5 weeks of bedrest in my 40's, running even a mile was no longer fun and everything just seemed off. I'd always enjoyed Pilates, but getting into Reformer and other Pilates equipment classes refocused me and got me back on track.
Pilates made such an impact, I am now a Certified Pilates Instructor offering Private and Duet Sessions at my home studio as well as Mat, TRX, Barre classes and other personal training.
COVID shut down our beloved Lifestyle RX at Stanford where I was teaching multiple group classes since 2016. I am excited to say, I will be starting 2023 with small group Barre classes at my home studio.
My Comprehensive Balanced Body Pilates training in Mat, Reformer and Apparatus (Barrel, Chair and Trapeze Table) was completed through Turning Point Studios in Walnut Creek. I have over 1000+ teaching hours in Pilates alone.
I am AFAA certified in Group Exercise with multiple additional certifications including ChoreobarreFitness, Cycle and TRX which I enjoy for my own fitness goals.
Pilates kept me centered as an Air Traffic Controller and still does today homeschooling my twins and balancing life both mentally and physically.
** Due to a chemical exposure on the job in past Air Traffic Control work and related lung issues, my home is chemical free. The Pilates studio is Fragrance-Free and clients are asked to refrain from scented products. Pilates incorporates breath into each movement and facilitates better lung function.
Mat Pilates exercises are aimed at improving flexibility and muscle tone, along with the spine and lower back. They are performed on the floor focusing on the fundamentals of Pilates incorporating: breathing, centering, concentration, control, precision, and flow.
The main difference between mat and reformer classes is the resistance. A reformer is made up of pulleys, springs, straps, cables, and bars. Each part can be adjusted for more or less resistance and allows for modifications which can be used for rehabilitation as well as strength for.
ChoreoBarreFitness is a fun full body workout program incorporating Pilates principals. Focus is on cardiovascular health, core stability, strength, balance, flexibility, progressions and form. Typically, trainings involve movement with music.
